Experimental investigation of relative timing jitter in passively synchronized Q-switched lasers.

چکیده
Relative timing jitter between synchronized Q-switched lasers, or lack thereof, is important for stable sum-frequency generation. Experimental investigation of two passively synchronized lasers shows that the jitter is minimized when the free-running repetition rates of the two lasers are close to, but not exactly, matching. When the free-running repetition rates are matched, the jitter is significantly large. At the best operating point, the pulse-to-pulse period was 200 μs, while the relative jitter between the two lasers was 9 ns. If the effect of the master laser's pulse-to-pulse jitter is removed, the residual timing jitter between the two lasers was 6 ns, which corresponds to the lower limit set by pump power fluctuations and noise from spontaneous emission.

Laser dynamics and relative timing jitter analysis of passively synchronized Er- and Yb-doped mode-locked fiber lasers
Passively synchronized Er-doped and Yb-doped mode-locked fiber lasers with a master–slave configuration are theoretically investigated based on the pulse propagationmodel for simulating pulse collision in the common fiber section and on the master equation model for simulating laser dynamics. Computational results indicate that the central optical frequency of the slave Er laser will be shifted...

This paper deals with the experimental results of a xenon flash-lamp pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser using Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. The need of a laser cavity to be integrated into a time-of-flight laser range finder is of great interest as an experimental investigation of several laser resonators. Two types of laser resonator, with different lengths, have been studied: the flat-fl...
متن کاملIndependently tunable 1.3 W femtosecond Ti:sapphire lasers passively synchronized with attosecond timing jitter and ultrahigh robustness.
A stable passively synchronized femtosecond laser has been realized by coupling two 1.3 W mode-locked Ti:sapphire lasers with a Kerr medium. An ultralong tolerance of 10 microm for the cavity length mismatch and a timing jitter of less than 0.4 fs were obtained. The relative carrier-envelope phase slip was directly observed by measuring the heterodyne output between the two lasers.

Synchronized Q-switching between quasi-three-level and four-level lasers is interesting for sum-frequency generation into the blue and ultraviolet. We report, for the first time, stable synchronized Q-switching between a quasi-three-level laser at 946 nm and a four-level laser at 1064 nm in an all passive approach. While timing jitter of the individual freerunning lasers were on the order of 10...
